Drilling Anwar
Drilling ANWaR is a touchy subject. People are passionate on both sides of the issue. They’ll often write about their take online.
President Carter was responsible for giving ANWaR protective status. He allowed drilling but only if Congress would approve it. The pursuit of that approval is often the issue. Congressmen have to face this every time they run for office.
One man is very much against drilling ANWaR. Animals need somewhere to live. Don’t take their homes.
But other people are fine with drilling ANWaR. They aren’t worried about the impact to the wild. One of them wrote: To say we can destroy nature is arrogant. We won’t harm any carribou by drilling. It just won’t happen.
A possible answer to that is tell the cuckoo bird that nature always finds a way. In the case of that bird, nature found a way to go extinct. Although maybe if the cuckoo had oil, it would have been able to drive a car to safety.
John McCain talked about drilling ANWaR when he wanted to become President. He was all for it as long as it was done in a way that wouldn’t harm the environment.
An answer to that is John McCain lost two bids for President for good reason. But now that he’s back to work in the Senate, he can vote for drilling ANWaR.
Many people get mad when they discuss drilling ANWaR. Should people be able to drill through your house, maybe block the bathroom, to get to oil? We want to drill in the home of the caribou.
But people aren’t animals and the wilderness isn’t a house.
