Method For Serving Absinthe

Take an Absinthe glass

Use of sugar cube
Take Absinthe fountain of iced water.
Use of the ritual recipe:-
Pour 25-50ml of Absinthe into an Absinthe glass.
On top of the glass rest your Absinthe spoon to place the sugar cube on it.
Drip the ice cold water over the sugar cube or set the tap on the fountain to a slow drip. The sugar cube and water mix into the Absinthe.
As the water mixes with the Absinthe, the drink will louche (go cloudy or milky). The louche effect is caused by the essential oils such as wormwood contained in Absinthe which is soluble in alcohol but non soluble in water.
To enjoy your Absinthe stir it.
Preposition of water to Absinthe should be between 3:1 and 5:1
“Glass in a Glass” process is used as Ritual method. Drip water into the small glass containing the Absinthe which then overflows into the larger glass. Remove the small glass once it contains just water and all of the Absinthe is in the larger glass.

- Absinthe
- An Absinthe glass
Spoon used in Absinthe serving
A cube of sugar needed
Use a lighter or match
- Iced water
Fill the glass with 25-50ml of Absinthe.
Add sugar cube to soak in Absinthe and rest on the spoon.
Set light, caramelize sugar cube , melt and drip into Absinthe.
Iced water is added to Absinthe to louche it.
This method has become very popular in recent times especially in Absinthe bars in the Czech Republic. Many Absinthe drinkers scorn this method because it is not traditional.
