Is the U.S. Ready to Change Course?

Now that Barack Obama has been in the White House for almost half a year, it’ll be fascinating to look at whether the renewed interest in the political process will be something we can count on going forward. Obama’s African American heritage was history-making, but time will only tell if that is enough to keep people rallied behind the president.

It would be nice if that were the case, because it’s finally time for us to be unified as one nation. For example, there would be great benefit to veterans if this unification happened. Many were wounded in American wars and in some cases, they sometimes didn’t get the thanks they deserved when they came back to the United States. That is the reason I created some veterans clip art that pays homage to veterans. This veterans clip art is just a small way we can all show our support. That appreciation could mean the world to veterans who have been disenfranchised. It’s important that we not just celebrate American veterans with occasional vintage patriotic greeting cards. Americans need to value them all the time. Our veterans deserve it. If that support doesn’t come from us; where will it come from?

Not only veterans would benefit, however, from the U.S. having renewed interest in unity. It would be wonderful to see people saluting American flags when on parade, because they just couldn’t stop themselves from expressing their patriotism. With any luck, that genuine feeling will move us all a bit closer to lasting peace. But it’s up in the air whether this reuniting will take place. Some people are already vehemently opposed to the new administration’s changes. But that’s just the way American politics works. To a certain extent, those dissension in the process protect us. We hope so anyway. The people of the United States will just have to see what happens.
