Make Scrapbooks for Free by Using Online Images

Because there are so many Internet-savvy scrapbook paper and embellishment designers today, the Internet is full of free digital scrapbooking papers. As long as you know how to do a Web search and download files, you can have an almost endless supply of images to create professional-looking scrapbooks. That’s why popular artist Mary Englebreit recently remarked that the Internet is a great source of digital scrapbook supplies that will yield almost anything you might need. And she should know about quality images; products featuring her designs sell like mad!

The following are samples of some of the types of free scrapbooking images I’ve found on the Web:

Babies and Children

Like weddings, tiny tots invite photography. And what scrapbooker wouldn’t want to pass down a beautiful baby scrapbook to her child as he or she gets older? Fortunately, you can find a huge selection of scrapbooking supplies for babies. If you haven’t looked at baby images for a while, though, you might be surprised to learn that the colors are less traditional than they used to be. Burnt orange, chocolate brown and red are all the rage, as well as a few specific shades of green. Blue and pink are still popular, of course, but these days there are many bold color choices too. And for older children, there is quite a lot of free clip art that reflects special interests, such as gymnastics images, football clip art and baseball clipart.

Vintage

There seems to be an increase in the number of people looking for antique scrapbooking images. Maybe that’s because vintage art is so timeless and doesn’t date the final product to any particular modern era. Greeting cards from times long gone make perfect vintage scrapbooking embellishments, as does antique clipart. And if you’re lucky enough to find vintage designs on digital scrapbooking papers, you’ll experience digital meeting traditional in a beautiful and useful way. Antique designs also cover a wide variety of subjects, including images as diverse as vintage flowers, magician posters, Victorian fashion illustrations, nautical clip art and vintage posters. So whatever the topic of your scrapbook, there’s probably vintage art to match.

Holidays

Holidays just naturally invite the creation of scrapbooks, since those are the times we gather with friends and family to create special memories. And it’s not just the “showier” holidays, such as Christmas, Easter, Valentine’s Day and Halloween that inspire scrapbooks; it’s the minor holidays too. There are all kinds of patriotic scrapbooking papers and embellishments on the Web for holidays such as Memorial Day, Veterans Day, Fourth of July and Flag Day. There are also many images out there for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Earth Day and any other holiday you can think of; even the silly or off-beat ones.

Flowers and Butterflies

I’ve definitely noticed that scrapbookers love flowers, and why not? They work for nearly any occasion. Butterflies attract a large audience too, because they bring to mind so many things we love: freedom, summertime and other happy things. Butterfly and flower images are also diverse, because an abundance of them can be found as both illustrations and photos, and in modern and vintage styles. There are even butterfly scrapbooking papers that span both vintage and modern in the same collections.

Wedding Images

Weddings and scrapbooks were made to go together, because it’s always been a tradition to have a wedding photo album. But a wedding scrapbook can preserve your memories in an even more creative way. There are many good free wedding scrapbooking images online that will allow you to create one of these very special mementos with no or little cost. And if for some reason you don’t find any specifically for weddings that appeal to you, flower scrapbook images will often do just as well.

So the next time you need scrapbooking graphics, check online. You might find some free images that will really surprise you.
