Stress Management For Young Adults

I have no doubt that the majority of people who read this article would agree that life as a teenager is a far from easy one. I would go as far as to say that todays teenagers have never had it so tough. What with the constant peer pressure of their friends to the school examinations plus the stress that their parents put on them; it can be quite tough. So how can we as parents attempt to help our beautiful teenage children cope with all these pressures and stresses?

“I blame the kids parents” is a famous saying. In a way I can understand the statement as I am often amazed at the amount of teenagers, well those aged between thirteen and fifteen, who are still hanging around when I take my dog for one final walk at around midnight. Now there is absolutely no way that I would allow my children to be out that late; I want to make sure that they are tucked safely in bed well before this time. So how come the parents of these teenagers are happy for them to still be out?

I certainly do not claim to have all of the answers. I am purely a web marketer who spends his day promoting a number of websites with regards to subjects such as cost reduction, DVD authoring and stuttering treaments. I am therefore no expert at bringing up a teenager. I do however have a teenage daughter myself and am trying my best to ensure that she has a happy and as stress free as possible teenage experience.

I try to achieve this by setting certain boundaries. She has to be in by a certain time at night; she needs to ensure that all of her homework is completed before she does venture out; she is asked to keep her room tidy and she is also required to help around the house.

If she can stick to these simple rules then she is able to stay up as late as she wants, within reason of course; she is allowed to have her friends around for sleepovers and she receives a fairly hefty sum of pocket money to spend each month.

Now I am fully aware about those things called hormones and that at times she will be moody and rebel. I try and keep calm when this happens by taking my lovely dog Cassie for a long walk!
