The 2010 Ford Fusion is Making Waves
With the demise of the defunct Ford Taurus, there has been a gaping hole in Ford’s midsized line-up which Toyota and honda just love to see.Since its first introduction in 2006, Ford has made many modifications to the Fusion including the new Hybrid power plant that the public have really been taking notice to.The 2008 Los Angeles Auto Show.The new Ford Fusion recieves some of the best in-town gas mileage, that only a hybrid can get.You can expect to get great fuel economy in city driving, around 41 MPG, which is much better than the Toyota Camry hybrid and a little better than the Civic Hybrid.Without the gas engine, the Fusion can drive up to 47 MPH on just the electric motor alone.There are a ton of Vehicle Magazines that have used these tactics to get much better gas savings than the EPA ratings.
The Fusion can teach drivers which driving style is best for maximum fuel economy by using new technology.Ford has made a smart feature built into the gauge cluster called the Smart Gauge.there are 2 hybrid information displays, one on each side of the gauge cluster that give a nice readout.The driver can see the amount of gasoline and the amount of electric charge left in the batteris through the 1st info screen.The 2nd display shows the vehicle tachometer and also tells which mode the Fusion is running in; full electric or hybrid.The third monitor will tell how the battery power is and what the engine output is.Finally, the last screen shows data in power to the wheels and additional power consumption.All display screens show fuel efficiency, MPG record, voyage account, and changes in coolant temps.Real time Mile Per Gallon information lets the driver know which driving style gains best fuel economy.
The navigation system also houses the Hybrid Energy Flow Display.This display will exhibit the five modes of the Hybrid Pwer Train in cluding things like the regenerative braking, the elestric engine boost, and various hybrid and electric drive systems, and finally the charge while at idle.
The For Fusion is unique among other hybrids in that recycled yarns were used to make the seats, another eco modification first.Hybrid vehicles have been vastly popular over the last few years with Toyota and Honda leading the way; finally Ford has joined the race.
